Job Description Apply: Lead Experience Analyst (Longevity)
Goodman Masson are working with an organisation who are looking for a high calibre individual with relevant experience to lead the Biometrics Analysis for Longevity and support an expanding line of business.
The Biometrics and Inforce Management team has the following main responsibilities:
- Delivering analysis of client experience and maintaining a pool of experience analysis results for the purposes of quotes, basis development work and valuation assumption setting
- Maintaining and developing our experience analysis tools
- Developing systems and methods to ensure efficient processes and maximum insight is gained
- Engaging with clients to maximise the value of the in force portfolio
- Demonstrating pricing impact of underwriting rules through analysis of application and experience data
- The Lead Experience Analyst (Longevity) will be responsible for all Longevity deliverables working closely with both the Pricing and Longevity teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring all Longevity related deliverables the team is responsible for are produced to a high standard and within agreed timescales
- Checking and reviewing experience analyses for the Longevity business and ensuring results of investigations are appropriately fed back to relevant stakeholders for the purposes of quotes, terms of trade and valuation assumptions
- Ensuring client and internal policy data is used effectively to enable and perform efficient experience analyses
- Input into the planning of work within the team. Liaising with other departments (mainly the Pricing and Longevity teams) to ensure the right balance is achieved between the speed of delivery and scope of work required
- Direct line management and responsible for helping to develop all individuals within the team by setting expectations, providing feedback, and supporting development needs
- Ensuring systems and tools related to the Longevity processes and experience analyses are maintained
- Improving processes and building tools to support digitisation, experience analyses and pricing capability
- Participation in cross team projects
- Support on experience analyses and projects for the Protection line of business as required
- Providing or supporting knowledge sharing across the Pricing division
General Duties and Tasks:
- Work independently or in various teams of mixed disciplines, as required, to deliver the team’s objectives
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across UKLB, as appropriate, to support UKLB objectives
- Develop analytical tools and actuarial models to help obtain maximum value from available information
- Produce high quality written and numerical material appropriate for its purpose
- Optimise work processes and assess these where improvements are needed to ensure these are effective and efficient, using new technologies where appropriate
- Ensure the team meets deadlines, deliver on promises, and manage internal / external customers’ expectations
- Proactively support the positive development of UKLB through contributing ideas and participating in initiatives
- Build and maintain relationships with other teams.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Experience and/or familiarity with Longevity as a business line, and more technically from an experience analysis perspective
- Strong analytical skills that can be applied to data to make sense of what is happening within
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and Access and a good understanding of R, Python and/or SQL
- Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with a variety of audiences
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Good organisational and planning skills with the ability to think laterally as well as logically
Desirable
- Insurance/Reinsurance background
- Experience with Pensions and Annuities
- Experience using Power BI
- Previous line management experience
Qualifications and Requirements
- Work experience in an actuarial area
- Nearly Qualified/Qualified actuary
