Lloyd’s are seeking to recruit an Actuarial Associate. The role is a capital-focussed actuarial associate role within the team, carrying out syndicate-specific capital oversight reviews. There will also be opportunity to work on reserving oversight. You will have the opportunity to assist other teams in MRC as resourcing requires, such as assisting the central capital modelling team with parameterisation or carrying out market level projections for the Lloyd’s annual reserving exercise with the central reserving team. There is also the opportunity to request secondments into these areas after some time in the role
Principal Accountabilities
The work in the MRC - Actuarial Oversight department covers a number of key areas. As an actuarial associate you would be expected to support various aspects of the work undertaken by the team, these could comprise:
Undertake qualitative and quantitative review of syndicate SCRs and their validation
Undertake ad-hoc investigations into syndicate-specific or thematic aspects which arise as part of Lloyd’s market oversight
Lead more junior members of the team on the projects and pieces of work involved in, providing guidance and technical assistance
Assist in production of returns to be provided to the market
Review and validation of data returns received by Lloyd’s
Review of Lloyd’s reserving and capital returns including LCRs, SAOs, AFRs as well as reserving and capital data returns
Taking on responsibility for managing some internal processes, escalating any issues as necessary
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge and skills within non-life insurance work in capital modelling and/or reserving.
- Knowledge of the actuarial techniques involved in non-life insurance
- Comfortable with delivering work output. This will include supervising more junior team members to complete the work and communicating outcomes to an internal audience
- Knowledge of various IT tools including Excel, Word
- Undertaking good progress through actuarial exams towards IFoA Fellowship
